Effective August 2026 ยท written in plain language on purpose

Primerly exists to help you choose a school, not to collect data about your family. What you save and write here is yours: nobody else reads it, nobody else is told about it, and nobody can buy it. Here is everything we keep, why, and what we will never do with it.

Browsing without an account

You can use the whole site, the quiz included, without telling us who you are. Quiz answers are processed on your device and are not sent to us. Schools you save or compare before signing in are stored in your own browser, not on our servers.

If you type a neighborhood or cross streets into the quiz or the map, that text is sent to OpenStreetMap's lookup service to find coordinates. It is not sent to us, and the result stays in your browser.

If you give us your email for the newsletter or the primer, that's all we use it for. We never share it with anyone, and you can leave any time with one click.

If you create an account

We store:

That is the complete list. No browsing history, no advertising profile, no data about your child; we never ask for a child's name, birthdate, or records.

Everything on that list is private to your notebook. Your saves, your shortlist order, and every note you write are visible to exactly two kinds of people: you, and a co-parent you have personally invited. Nobody at Primerly reads your notes in the course of running the site; the database is touched only to keep the service working, fix a problem you have reported, or delete your data when you ask.

What we will never do

Your notes are between you and your co-parent, period. No school, no district, and no one at Primerly will ever know which schools you are considering or what you wrote about them.

Who touches the data

Account data lives with our database provider (Supabase) and email leaves through our sending provider (Resend); both act only on our instructions. We use no analytics trackers and no advertising pixels.

Deleting everything

Email courtney@primerly.org from your account address and your account, notes, and saved schools are permanently deleted, usually within a few days. Leaving a shared notebook removes your name from it; deleting the account that created it deletes the notebook for both readers.

If this policy changes

The effective date above changes with it, and account holders get an email describing what changed before it takes effect.
