PK–12 · Private · Religious · Seventh Day Adventist

Tualatin Valley Academy (TVA) is a PreK–12 Seventh-day Adventist school in Hillsboro serving about 200 students. Class sizes average 18, with school-reported ratios of 1:9 in preschool, 1:16 in kindergarten, 1:18 in grades 1–6, 1:20 in middle school, and 1:10 in high school. Every student belongs to a cross-grade family group, and buddy classes pair older and younger students.

STEAM starts early, with computer labs from preschool and a Wacky Science class in grades 1–2. High school students earn a standard or College Prep diploma, take AP courses as enrollment allows (including AP Statistics, AP Language, and AP US History), can earn a Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish, build games across a 3-year Game Dev Studio sequence, and finish with a senior capstone project or externship.

Each high school year includes Bible Camp and a curricular trip: a STEAM trip to Los Angeles, a marine biology trip, a U.S. History trip to the East Coast, and a mission trip to a Spanish-speaking country. Music is a signature, led by an audition-only handbell ensemble that tours each spring. Every school day opens with classroom worship, and students gather weekly for chapel.

Your odds in the lottery

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
