Trinity Academy of Portland

a faith-based private school in Portland

6–12 · Private · Religious · Christian

7424 N Mississippi Ave, Portland · Dr. Joannah Clark (Head of School)

Trinity Academy's curriculum is built around three pillars: Humanities, Math and Science, and Fine Arts, all required for every student, with no elective tracks. In the Humanities, middle schoolers study history and literature with an emphasis on building discussion skills; in high school, this becomes the Humane Letters Seminar, meeting 2 hours a day to read and discuss original texts in philosophy, theology, political theory, history, and literature in a round-table format. Math runs from 6th-grade math through multivariable calculus and linear algebra (including computer programming in MATLAB in junior year), and science courses in biology, chemistry, and physics emphasize hands-on observation and experiment. Latin runs from 7th through 10th grade, followed by 2 years of French, Greek, or Spanish.

Fine Arts are required throughout: all students take 5 years of studio art (calligraphy, drawing, painting), 5 years of music (theory, composition, and performance, with strings for all 6th graders, a choice of strings or choir in 7th and 8th, and choral music and counterpoint in high school), 2 years of art history, and 3 years of drama culminating in full-length stage productions. The school uses the curriculum and faculty training of Trinity Schools, whose network has won 9 national Blue Ribbon Awards, and is accredited by Cognia. Optional dual-credit courses for juniors and seniors are offered through a partnership with George Fox University. Faith formation is explicitly ecumenical: the school brings together students from Catholic and Protestant backgrounds with daily morning prayer and required study of Scripture and Christian doctrine. The campus is strictly cell phone and smartwatch free to encourage face-to-face engagement, and papers must be written without AI.

Tuition: $12,024 - $15,453 (2026-2027 range)

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
