Trackers Outdoor Homeschool is a once-a-week, fall-to-spring outdoor program for homeschooled kids ages 5 to 13, grouped into small teams by age (5–7, 8–10, 11–13). Families choose Wednesdays at the W Portland (Cedar Hills) site or Wednesdays or Fridays at SE Portland HQ, for 24 days across 3 eight-week terms.
Each term draws from Trackers' Four Guilds: Rangers (archery, wilderness survival, shelter building, and fire making without matches), Mariners (fishing and boating on local waterways), Wilders (caring for farm animals and gardens, foraging wild plants), and Artisans (woodcarving, ceramics, and folk crafts, mostly in winter). Winter also brings forest stealth games and animal tracking.
Guides mentor each team with an emphasis on teamwork, independence, and care for the natural world. The program complements a family's home curriculum rather than replacing it; there is no academic instruction or grading. Because kids handle knives, arrows, and fire, every participant must meet Trackers' safety and behavior expectations.
Tuition: $225/month

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
Official PPS lottery results, 2025-26 & 2026-27 combined: offers made ÷ families still in the running (offered + waitlisted); applications cancelled for a higher-ranked school excluded. pps.net › prior transfer data. Slots reset every year.
