K–5 · Public · Neighborhood · Portland Public Schools

2627 SW Stephenson St, Portland · Jon Jeans

Stephenson is a K–5 neighborhood school in Southwest Portland with about 2 classrooms per grade and a median class size of 21. Classroom teachers cover core subjects, and every student rotates through art, music, PE, and library with dedicated specialist teachers. The school's stated focus is literacy and math fluency, and an instructional coach works alongside teachers on that goal.

Behavior expectations run through PBIS and restorative practices, built on 4 core values (Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Your Best), with the Caring School Community social-emotional curriculum and a calming space in every classroom.

The PTA brings Missoula Children's Theatre to campus each fall and organizes a weekly Wednesday bike bus, and fee-based after-school classes range from ukulele and chess to design-and-print maker projects. On-site child care from the Stephenson Child Care Association runs until 6 p.m. The school also houses a district K–2 Communication Behavior classroom.
