4925 NE 9th Ave, Portland · Joseph Aguilera (Principal); Bri Hennessy (President/Director of Mission)
St. Andrew Nativity is a tuition-free Catholic, Jesuit middle school for students in grades 6 to 8 who qualify for free or reduced-price meals, and it enrolls young people of all faiths. Admission is narrow: the school accepts rising 6th graders only and takes no transfer students into 7th or 8th grade.
The model runs on a 48-hour week built around an extended school day, a mandatory study hall, a double period of Language Arts, and summer school that continues into July. Extended Day and Enrichment run in 3 seasonal sessions, so dismissal is 5:00 PM while a session is running and 3:00 PM when one is not.
Students get daily breakfast and afternoon snack, on-site counseling, and enrichment classes that change from session to session. Academic growth is tracked with MAP and iReady assessments. The Graduate Support Program starts high school placement work in 7th grade and continues past 8th grade through high school, college applications, FAFSA, and early career support.
The school reports that 97% of graduates are accepted to college preparatory high schools, 93% earn diplomas in 4 years, and 88% go on to college. Named community partners include Minds Matter, Friends of the Children, and Blanchet House.

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
Official PPS lottery results, 2025-26 & 2026-27 combined: offers made ÷ families still in the running (offered + waitlisted); applications cancelled for a higher-ranked school excluded. pps.net › prior transfer data. Slots reset every year.
