Sitton Elementary is a K-5 neighborhood school in St. Johns with two Head Start classrooms on site. Its Spanish Dual Language Immersion program runs one classroom per grade from kindergarten through 5th, alongside a two-classroom English track at most grade levels, following the district's 90/10 immersion model in the early grades.
DLI seats are reserved entirely for families inside the Sitton boundary, so in-boundary families opt in through the PPS lottery in ParentVUE during the K-5 window, and students who do not opt in join the English track.
Support staffing is deep for this size: 4 special education teachers across grade bands, 2 ESL teachers, a bilingual instructional specialist, and a counselor, psychologist and social worker all on the roster. The school runs an edible Learning Garden with a Grow Portland partnership and uses adjacent Pier Park for forest ecology work.
SUN School, run by Portland Parks & Recreation, offers free after-school care with supper. Sitton is a schoolwide Title I campus feeding George Middle and Roosevelt High.

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
Official PPS lottery results, 2025-26 & 2026-27 combined: offers made ÷ families still in the running (offered + waitlisted); applications cancelled for a higher-ranked school excluded. pps.net › prior transfer data. Slots reset every year.
