Sellwood Middle School serves grades 6–8 in the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood of inner Southeast Portland. The day runs on eight 48-minute periods opening with a short daily advisory, which leaves room for a wide elective menu on top of core language arts, math, science, and social studies.

Confirmed offerings include band, choir, 3D and advanced art, Spanish, French, textiles, cooking, STEM, journalism, speech and debate, zines, and Project Green, alongside a dedicated Reading class and a Math Support section for students who need them and CMP1 and 8th-grade Algebra for students working ahead.

Two counselors split the school alphabetically, coordinate the WEB peer-mentoring program and the Student Intervention Team, and run small groups including a GSA and an art group; Trillium Family Services places a therapist on site with office space in the building.

After-school classes come through P.E.A.K., which is run by the PTA rather than the school and charges a fee with scholarships available, and athletics run through PIL youth sports in the Cleveland cluster. Big picture: a high-performing neighborhood middle school with an unusually broad elective list, where the trade-off is size, at a median class of 29 against an Oregon median of 23.
