a tuition-free public alternative program in Portland

6–12 · Alternative · Specialized · Recovery

717 N Killingsworth Ct, Portland · North HS: Damon Hickok East HS: Tony Melson Lents HS: Destiney Clark Middle School: Alvin Johnson, Sr.

Rosemary Anderson Prep provides accredited diploma and GED programs for youth who have left traditional schools, with a focus on re-engagement and career readiness. The curriculum includes core academics, employment and training programs, and life skills development.

Small class sizes, an academic advisor at every campus, and individualized education plans help students overcome barriers to graduation, and the school reports an 82% graduation rate for 2024-25. Students who want to accelerate can take AP or college-level coursework through Acellus or Portland Community College.

Partnerships with community organizations provide mentorship, internships, and job placement support, including connections to college and career training that continue through age 25. An on-site mental health team and a monthly health clinic operate alongside the academic program.

The school also runs a middle school program for grades 6-8 focused on tech and the arts for students who have encountered barriers at other schools. For 2025-26, the New Columbia campus merged into the North campus, and the middle school relocated into the former New Columbia building at 4610 N. Trenton.
