Roosevelt High School (Spanish DLI)

a tuition-free public neighborhood school in Portland

9–12 · Public · Language Immersion · Spanish · Portland Public Schools

6941 N Central St, Portland · KD Parman (Principal)

Roosevelt High School offers AP courses, Dual Credit options through PCC, PSU, and the University of Portland (spanning engineering, construction, math, statistics, writing, theatre, and race and social justice), CTE pathways in health sciences, engineering, construction, computer science, media, and business management, and AVID for college readiness. The school's Visual and Performing Arts program is a genuine strength: theatre offers both CTE Technical Theatre and PCC Dual Credit performance coursework, and band has a strong tradition. CTE runs deep enough that 79 students completed a full 3-year program of study in 2025.

The Spanish Dual Language Immersion program is a continuation pathway for students who have been in the PPS DLI pipeline since elementary school, and it also serves native Spanish speakers; these students take Spanish-language content courses and can earn the Oregon State Seal of Biliteracy at graduation. Late entry is possible if a vacancy exists and the student passes a language proficiency test, but openings are rare. The PISA program (Portland International Scholars Academy), sometimes confused with Spanish immersion, is actually a separate full-day newcomer program for students new to the US who have been enrolled in a US school less than 3 years, and is a referral-based placement rather than an open enrollment option.

Your odds in the lottery

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
