Rigler Elementary is a K–5 neighborhood school and one of nine PPS elementary schools offering a two-way Spanish dual language immersion program, with every classroom from kindergarten through 5th grade taught by an immersion-designated teacher. In the two-way model, native English and native Spanish speakers learn together.

Kindergarten runs about 90% of the day in Spanish and 10% in English, shifting toward a roughly even split by 4th grade, with literacy, math, and science taught in both languages following Common Core State Standards. The goal is for all students to develop bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural skills. Rigler is a school-wide Title I campus, and 64% of students are Hispanic/Latino while 54% are ever English learners.

Specialists on staff include art, music, library, and PE, and 5 staff members carry English language development duties. After-school options are SUN Community School, run by Latino Network and free to all Rigler students, and fee-based YMCA care.

The Spanish immersion pathway continues through PPS middle and high schools, giving students who start at Rigler a clear academic track toward sustained bilingual proficiency through graduation.
