Park Academy

a private school in Lake Oswego

3–8 · Private · Specialized · Learning Differences

1915 South Shore Blvd Lake Oswego · Cliff Poage (Per the 2026–27 handbook), Head of School

Park Academy is the only school in Oregon offering a curriculum specifically designed for students with dyslexia and related learning differences, serving students in grades 3–8 in Lake Oswego. The school's Orton-Gillingham-based approach is woven throughout every class so students receive consistent, multi-sensory, structured literacy reinforcement across all subjects throughout the day. Every student also participates in daily small-group language instruction in groups of three, tailored to their individual literacy goals.

Class sizes are intentionally small (8 students in grades 3–4, 11 in grades 5–8), and the curriculum aligns with Oregon State Standards, ensuring students are working at grade level in core academic subjects alongside their literacy development. Assistive technology is integrated throughout. Enrichment classes in art, music, and theater round out the program, giving students opportunities to build confidence and creative expression beyond the core academic day.

The school's approach centers on the understanding that students with dyslexia are highly capable learners whose brains simply take in information differently. By the time students leave Park Academy, they are equipped with the strategies, self-knowledge, and academic foundation to succeed in high school — including private high schools and other competitive programs.
