Pacific Crest Community School offers a fully personalized program where students co-design learning plans with their advisor and parents, tailored to each student's individual pace, style, and goals. The curriculum blends classroom coursework, independent study, and student- and teacher-initiated courses across a broad range of disciplines, encouraging students to take genuine ownership of their education. Teachers act as mentors, guiding students through a diverse and dynamic mix of traditional and self-directed learning. Written evaluations replace grades, and students build and maintain a portfolio of their work throughout their time at the school.
Collaboration and self-direction are central, and community service is woven throughout: students and teachers engage in service opportunities each quarter, from the Oregon Humane Society to the Blanchet House, and service-learning classes offer deeper, sustained engagement. Seniors complete a culminating Senior Dissertation of their own design.
The campus is open, and students are permitted to leave at any time, though state law requires an average of 5.5 hours of daily attendance (5.5 hours/day averaged to 27.5 hours/week per the handbook), which can include time spent on community service activities. The flexible structure supports both academic rigor and personal exploration, and the school's college placement record reflects this: the majority of graduates go on to four-year colleges, many admitted to their first-choice school.

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
Official PPS lottery results, 2025-26 & 2026-27 combined: offers made ÷ families still in the running (offered + waitlisted); applications cancelled for a higher-ranked school excluded. pps.net › prior transfer data. Slots reset every year.
