Oregon Homeschool Science Club is a parent co-op that buys its science instruction from OMSI. Classes meet Tuesdays only, at 10:00, 11:30, or 1:00, running mid-September to early May with winter and spring breaks, and are taught by OMSI Science Educators holding degrees in a science field or in science education. Cohort A covers grades 2 to 4 and Cohort B grades 4 to 6, both 90 minutes; Cohort C covers grades 7 to 9 in 2-hour blocks. Kindergarten and 1st grade participate through events only. The sequence moves students across 6 branches of science over the grade levels: chemistry, physics, biology, earth, astronomy, and STEM. The year also includes a Science Assembly each term, planetarium shows, a submarine history tour, Science Showcase Day, mixed-age Family Science classes, and Film Day.
This is not a drop-off program. A parent or designated guardian remains on the OMSI campus for the full session, each classroom has 1 dedicated parent volunteer for the year plus a rotating second helper, and classes do not run if 2 volunteering parents are not present. Entry runs on an OMSI membership, which OHSC discounts by $30. OHSC is direct that no single class covers a full set of state standards and describes its labs as jumping-off points that supplement what families teach at home. Enrollment is open to homeschooling and hybrid-homeschooling families in Oregon and Washington; public and private school students are directed to OMSI's own programs instead.
Tuition: $525 - $575 (2026-2027)

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
Official PPS lottery results, 2025-26 & 2026-27 combined: offers made ÷ families still in the running (offered + waitlisted); applications cancelled for a higher-ranked school excluded. pps.net › prior transfer data. Slots reset every year.
