Oregon Episcopal School (Lower & Middle)

a faith-based private school in Portland

PK–8 · Private · Religious · Christian

6300 SW Nicol Rd, Portland · David Lowell (Head of Lower School)

OES’s Lower School (Pre-K–Grade 5) and Middle School (Grades 6–8) blend inquiry-based, cross-disciplinary academics with a strong sense of belonging, chapel, and joyful community traditions.

In the Lower School, children build fluent foundations in literacy and math while exploring science and social studies through hands-on investigations; Spanish is taught to all Lower School students several times per week, laying a gentle pathway into world languages later on.

Middle School adds seminar-style humanities, lab science, math acceleration/placement, and a full arts rotation (visual art, instrumental/vocal music, theatre), with wellness and advisory structures that emphasize executive skills and healthy habits.

Throughout K–8, OES leans into experiential education, classes step outdoors to observe, measure, and present, and grade-level trips build confidence, teamwork, and leadership. Overall: a warm, well-resourced K–8 arc where kids are known, challenged, and encouraged to explore, with language, arts, and outdoor learning woven into the academic day.

Tuition: $39,900 - $47,600 (2026-2027 range for K-8)

Your odds in the lottery

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
