Odyssey is a K–8 focus-option program where students learn through integrated, history-based units, using the stories of the past to build cognitive, creative, and collaborative skills for the world ahead. Classes are intentionally multi-age (K-1-2, 3-4-5, 6-7-8) with team-teaching and flexible grouping, so readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists can work at levels that fit them while still belonging to a tight-knit cohort. Because clusters are multi-age, the curriculum runs on a 3-year rotation so no student repeats a unit. Daily learning emphasizes cooperative work and interactive simulations, where students take on historical identities and "live" the era in class performances and projects.
The 3-4-5 and 6-7-8 clusters each end the year with extended Field Studies: multi-day, all-class trips to places like Fort Clatsop, John Day fossil beds, the Oregon Trail, and the coast, often in costume and often camping, so content clicks in real environments. Along the way, enrichment in art, music, drama, writing, science, and social studies is woven into every unit, building toward big "culmination" showcases. The program is aligned to PPS standards and keeps expectations rigorous while supporting different learners through inclusive practices and differentiated instruction. Odyssey receives the same per-student funding as any PPS school, and the program states that family donations, not district funds, pay for all enrichment and extracurricular activities. Contributions and volunteer time are both requested from each family as they are able, with no fixed amount and no required hours.

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
Official PPS lottery results, 2025-26 & 2026-27 combined: offers made ÷ families still in the running (offered + waitlisted); applications cancelled for a higher-ranked school excluded. pps.net › prior transfer data. Slots reset every year.
