Markham Elementary School serves one of the most linguistically diverse student bodies in Portland, with approximately 20 different languages spoken by its families. The school's core instructional features include a strong English Language Development (ELD) program tailored for its multilingual population, alongside comprehensive Talented and Gifted (TAG) services and specialized Special Education support.
SUN (Schools Uniting Neighborhoods) programming extends learning beyond the traditional bell schedule with a diverse array of after-school "extended-day" activities such as robotics and cultural celebrations. Holistic student development is further bolstered by the on-site Markham Children’s Care Association (MCCA), a long-standing nonprofit childcare partner.
Neighborhood House, a nearby social-services agency, also partners with the school for food access, housing support, and a parenting program.

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
Official PPS lottery results, 2025-26 & 2026-27 combined: offers made ÷ families still in the running (offered + waitlisted); applications cancelled for a higher-ranked school excluded. pps.net › prior transfer data. Slots reset every year.
