Maplewood Elementary is a K–5 neighborhood school in Southwest Portland. The school is guided by three community-wide values: Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Kind. Specialist classes currently include Art, PE, and Library.

Recess is structured through Playworks, a national nonprofit program in which a dedicated on-site coordinator runs inclusive games, trains student "junior coaches," and builds social-emotional skills on the playground. Maplewood also offers Talented and Gifted (TAG) services, Special Education, two school counselors, and a school psychologist.

The school has an active PTA that organizes afterschool activities, and produces its own podcast, Between 2 Maples, available on Spotify, covering topics like reading instruction and family engagement. The school also hosts a popular weekly "Bike Bus" where students and families ride to campus together in a large, supervised group to promote wellness and safety.

Additionally, Maplewood is home to a dedicated Intensive Skills Classroom (ISC), a program that receives immense community support to provide specialized resources for students with significant adaptive needs.
