The International School of Portland (ISP) is a preschool–5th grade independent school where children learn core academics through full language immersion in Japanese, Chinese, or Spanish with native-speaking teachers, all within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework.
Daily homeroom instruction happens in the target language, while the IB approach builds inquiry, reflection, and global-mindedness across subjects. Families love the capstone tradition: all 5th graders travel together to a country of their program language to use their skills in real life, and the Capstone trip is included in tuition.
After school, the on-campus Global Kids program adds outdoor play, enrichment clubs, and homework time for older students. Class sizes are small and the community is intentionally international and welcoming.
Tuition: $27,740 (2026-2027 10-month plan)

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
Official PPS lottery results, 2025-26 & 2026-27 combined: offers made ÷ families still in the running (offered + waitlisted); applications cancelled for a higher-ranked school excluded. pps.net › prior transfer data. Slots reset every year.
