da Vinci Arts Middle School

a tuition-free public focus option in Portland

6–8 · Public · Focus Option · Arts · Portland Public Schools

2508 NE Everett St, Portland · Scott Roosevelt

da Vinci is PPS’s arts-focused middle school where studio arts and performance are built into the school day, not tacked on after. Students rotate through visual arts (2D, 3D, design), theatre, dance, and music alongside ELA, math, science, and social studies, with show cycles and gallery walks that turn deadlines into real audiences.

The schedule is crafted so rehearsals and studio work complement core classes; teachers coordinate rubrics, critique protocols, and reflection so skills transfer between the arts and academics. Hallways routinely display works-in-progress, and performance weeks build teamwork, time management, and stagecraft.

For creative kids, and for those discovering new talents, da Vinci offers a structured way to take artistic risks while keeping a strong academic spine.
