Chapman Elementary is a neighborhood school that balances PPS curricular standards with long-standing community traditions. To foster a positive climate, the school utilizes Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), teaching explicit expectations for safety and respect while celebrating students who model these values.
A defining community feature is the school’s "Wednesday Bike Train," where students and families commute together to promote health and local engagement. The campus also serves as a hub for environmental science during the annual Vaux’s Swifts migration, with the school and PTA hosting events that turn the neighborhood phenomenon into a shared educational experience.
Art, music, and physical education are integrated into the weekly schedule, and the school partners with Friendly House for inclusive after-school enrichment and social-emotional growth.

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
Official PPS lottery results, 2025-26 & 2026-27 combined: offers made ÷ families still in the running (offered + waitlisted); applications cancelled for a higher-ranked school excluded. pps.net › prior transfer data. Slots reset every year.
