a tuition-free public charter in Gresham

11–12 · Public · Charter · Specialized · Gresham-Barlow School District (Charter Authorizer)

1484 NW Civic Drive, Gresham · Jessica Gallagher (Principal)

CAL is a public charter program for 11th–12th graders that students attend half-day (the other half at their home high school), designed to immerse teens in hands-on Career & Technical Education (CTE) linked to real industry partners. Programs span Health Sciences (Medical & Dental), Manufacturing & Engineering, Tech (computer science, IT, cybersecurity, electronics), Media (photo/video, audio, animation, design), Change Lab (entrepreneurship/marketing/finance), and FAB Lab (fashion, art & branding). Students can earn dual credit with Mt. Hood Community College (e.g., CS, Writing 121/122, Anatomy & Physiology, Media Arts), often graduating with up to 32 college credits and a strong portfolio.

CAL operates through a rare multi-district partnership (Gresham-Barlow, Reynolds, Centennial; seats are allotted to partner high schools), and 10th graders apply via a lottery each winter. Recent snapshots highlight 99% graduation, 7 unique programs, and structured college/career skill-building within each pathway. Campus is in Gresham serving students from partner schools while they remain fully connected to activities and athletics at home campuses.

Your odds in the lottery

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
