Brentwood Middle School (formerly Lane Middle School)

a tuition-free public neighborhood school in Portland

6–8 · Public · Language Immersion · Russian · Portland Public Schools

7200 SE 60th Ave, Portland · Rosemarie El Youssef

June 2026 name change from Lane to Brentwood*

Brentwood Middle School serves as the continuation site for the Russian Dual Language Immersion program, receiving students from Kelly Elementary's Russian DLI pathway. For Russian DLI, students take Russian language as an elective and can earn four high school credits by the end of eighth grade. This prepares students to continue advanced Russian language studies at Franklin High School, where they work toward the Oregon Seal of Biliteracy and university credits. Students who complete the full K-12 Russian immersion program become eligible for enrollment in Portland State University's Russian Flagship Program.

Beyond the Russian DLI pathway, Brentwood offers typical PPS middle school programming including Talented and Gifted services, Special Education, AVID, and various elective courses. Brentwood feeds into Franklin High School and was part of the 2021-2023 Southeast Enrollment and Program Balancing reorganization aimed at increasing enrollment at the school.

Your odds in the lottery

Seats here aren’t first-come; they’re drawn by lottery. Each circle below is a tenth of the families who applied over the last two springs and stayed in the running (didn’t take a higher-ranked school). Filled circles got a yes.
